The Sunday Triborough Family Report from hard working hawkwatcher Jules Corkery-
I watched H1 (Hous) today for changes in behavior. He seemed mellow to me and because it was rainy he looked different because of his wet feathers. I want to be careful and not let my emotions get the best of me. Of course time will tell. I'll be over there tomorrow morning to see how he looks and tomorrow night there will be the fireworks in the park but I do hope to get a look at him before that.
This afternoon, he and Triborough were in the london planes close to where they were released - next to the basketball court which has not been completed as of yet so very quiet. They were both there for most of the afternoon.

H1 was very quiet and didn't stretch or look around very much. At about 6:15, both parents flew from the river over the trees to the high dining platform and both babies charged out of the trees and headed for the pool's flood light where Athena left a sparrow. Houston won out and dropped down to the ground to claim his prize after it was knocked off the light from their landing. H1 actively ate his meal but didn't eat the whole thing. Triborough just stayed up on the light and didn't seem interested in the leftover food. Atlas stayed in the area on the opposite flood light and ate a pigeon.

After H1 finished his meal he flew to the cement bleachers in the area and decided to jump on a styrofoam plate that was lying upside down on the bleachers. He stepped on it and tried scratching at it. He hopped up a few more bleacher risers and finally flew to one of the single low diving platforms and was generally fairly mellow. Triborough continued to preen and look around until I left at around 8:00.
Joe, one of our local hawk watchers reported that on Saturday Francois got some real nice photos of H1 playing on the ground entertaining all the people in line to get into the pool. He said he was animated, interested in his surroundings, and really just being a kid.
Will let you all know how it goes in the am.

What about the Houston female? Is anyone looking out for her, as she might well be ill also? How sad. Thank you for your efforts.
I just got word from Francois Portmann. The Houston Formel still seems to be going about her business okay. I'm told she was spotted standing on the nest a few days ago.
The local watchers are attempting to keep an eye on her. For others who might like to help, the nest is at Houston St. and Avenue D. and she might be seen within a number of blocks of that site as well as in the mornings, at East River Park. Which is across the FDR to the east from the nest.
