the Sentinel Pelican Gathers the Flock for a Short Trip
And the pod of Pelicans is gone. Is it just for today or will they have moved on not to be seen at Sheepskin Pond again this season? Yet still the Red-wing stands his post and contemplates taking another dive at me. And finally a Red-tailed Hawk for the day. The Thirteen-lined Ground Squirrel young are just appearing out of their burrows for the first time this season. Note the baby fluff still on her anterior and the over-sized feet. And for a comparison in size- baby Thirteen-lined Ground Squirrel with two Cowbirds. . A much better shot of the mystery birds. Any takers?
