This morning Houston 1 was rescued. He is now in the care of Cathy Horvath who, with baby Sadie, sped to Astoria Park to pick him up.
He is very ill and may have a broken jaw but is at last now receiving fluids, has been fed, and given medication.

Whoopie! I know there's no way of knowing what condition he's in at this point -- but he's rescued and he's being cared for.
DOUBLE WHOOPIE!

Bless you Donna, and all who watch out for NYC's wildlife. I've enjoyed your blog for about a year, but have never posted before. I could tell that you were knowledgeable before reading your response to the concerned Ranger. I do hope he took you up on the email invitation. Alliances between folks of good-will, knowledge and 'official capacity' are very important these days. I love that you talk about and photograph many different species and while you have names for them and tell wonderful stories, you also educate those of us seeking to learn more about the other species that we share Planet Earth with. Thank you so much for the good work!
fantastic news!

And here is to "alliances between folks of good will, knowledge and official capacity." From your lips to God's ears.
Makes my day!
