URBAN HAWK FLASH--First Eyass Fledges Off the Cathedral Nest

The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine

Long time Hawk Watcher Stella Hamilton reports that one of the eyasses was on the head of St. Andrew performing the usual flapping exercises when suddenly she took off, circled a short way over Morningside Park, and returned to the top of the London Plane tree which overhangs the chain link fence near the nest.

Cathedral 1 of 2008, flew so well that Stella and Clare think it is possible that this is not the first time the eyass has performed this particular flight. They continue to watch to see if she will try for the nest.

MORE AS IT HAPPENS!
