Being Doves in winter, the face off--
Turns into a tail-off.
Having eaten their fill the Mourning Dove flock goes up to the Maple for the typical afternoon nap taken by doves and pigeons. That is Doorstep Dove on the far up right.
Junco appears and checks out the used ketchup packets blown in by the wind.
Then Junco seems to be deciding which dark lumps are sunflower seeds and which have been left behind by bunnies.
Decisions made, he begins to eat.

In the tree, but alert as sentinal watching for predators.
Therefore the others can take a deep sleep of a few moments before it is their turn to be alert while the former sentinal sleeps.
There are two alert birds. Each keeping watch over their 180 degrees.
And finally, the reappearance of a Downy Woodpecker.
The Woodpeckers and Nuthatches have been amongst the missing for weeks. Once again today the squirrels kept to their nests in the bitter weather. Six more inches of snow our expected before Wednesday afternoon.
