Saturday at the Park with Pale Male and Company

 No Pale Male....

Octavia appears to be finished feeding Little, so I decide to see if I can track down Pale Male.
I hear a chunk chunk chunk.  I look over and there is a Blue Jay chopping in the ground with her beak.
(No I am not intentionally underlining.  Blogger is just stuck in that mode....ignore it, I am.  :)  See the underlining decided to go away.

See the nest from here?
I don't see him on Fifth Avenue anywhere from this view so I head back to the Bench.
Guess who's back on the Carlyle?  He's on the far left light fixture.
And the Blue Jays are after him again.
OUCH!
Pale turns his head to watch.
The Blue Jay is relentless.

5:41:10  Octavia appears to be napping as are the eyasses on and off.  Pale Male allows himself to be pecked  at for hours.  He'll leave for a few minutes and come back to the Carlyle and the Jays will go mad attacking him.
(This will be important.  Trust me.)

Happy Hawking...much more to come!  DB

Part 3 of A Big Day with Pale Male, Octavia,...

If you haven't read Parts 1 and 2 yet, scroll down and do that first!

 All times PM
6 22 08  Octavia looks up with focus.

The eyasses take a little exercise.
Octavia appears to be preening but note the two Blue Jays high up on the capital of the cornice to her left.
Note  the Blue Jay coming straight down the window molding towards  Octavia's head?  She ducks.
Another attack in the making.
Jay rises a bit and then dives at Octavia.  She ducks again but from the look of her feathers there was some contact.  Nice of Octavia to take the Jay outrage and give Pale Male a break.  Speaking of Pale Male...
He's high atop the Carlyle surveying the territory from intruders on that front and watching the nest of course.
6 32 40  The skateboarding dog zips past the Hawk Bench.

6 33 27  Little picks up a twig. The other two look on.
6 37 50 And then there is flapping!

Part 2 of a Huge Day With Pale Male, Octavia, and the Eyasses plus Irate Blue Jays and Mockingbirds

This is Part 2 of the title below so if you haven't read Part 1 scroll down to Part 1 below and read it first.  Then scroll back up here and read Part 2.  (It will make more sense that way, honest)

We last left Octavia perched on a Window of the  Barbara Walters Building, in the meantime...
And as per usual, all times are PM.
6:16:48  Pale Male is next seen zipping South, with the Woody building as a back drop.
6 16 52 Then he cruises past the nest on 927 Fifth Avenue.  Note the eyasses are in a clump with their eyes glued to him.
6 16 54 Then he wings past the Fisher Building.
6 16 55  Pale Male ascends to above the roof of Linda and keeps going.

6 17 19  He lands on the last window of the row which is just above the tree line.
6 17 49  Back on 927 all the eyasses, even Little, focus South with the most intensity I've ever seen them register.   Why?

6 20 40 They're very interested because their Mom has flown over to Linda on the second window from the North on the same floor that Dad is on.

Note how much "hawkier" a female Red-tail's profile looks compared with the profile of a male...particularly Pale Male who is a very "sweet faced hawk".

End of Part 2  and yes there is a  Part 3 in the works.
Told you it was a Big Day.
