VIOLET ASCENDING Photograph by Francois Portmann, http://www.fotoportmann.com/birds/ From Wildlife Rehabilitators Bobby and Cathy Horvath- WINORR- Wildlife In Need of Rescue and Rehabilitation We are extremely heart sick to have to announce to everyone that Violet has passed away . She came through the surgery very well . She woke up and was sitting up fluffing her feathers . All of a sudden she had a heart attack . The Vet did CPR on her for 20 minutes to no avail. Xrays showed that at some point after her right foot had deteriorated , her left femur was broken . We don't know how she ever survived for as long as she did . We are somewhat relieved that at least Violet wasn't suffering alone somewhere . She was warm, peaceful and had a full belly and pain medication .We just couldn't get her in time . Hospice for Violet--Blakeman was right, but I do think he was wrong about the band not causing the problem after seeing the close up of the leg. What a tremendous bird she was! Thanks to Bobby and Cathy she didn't die hungry and cold.

Thank you for this beautiful picture of our much loved Violet. In addition to being a great mom to Pip and partner to Bobby, she was also a hawk with an independent spirit who loved to soar.

Oh yes, she did indeed! A great beauty with indomitable spirit has passed.
Her passing is even sadder as it didn't have to happen.
Fly free, whole, and without pain, dear Violet!
We will miss your beautiful face and majestic presence. We have learned a lot about mothering from watching you.
Thank you for this beautiful photo of Violet. She will long be remembered by all of us.
